Petroleum from Orange Peels and Carbon Dioxide

Cornell scientists create environmentally friendly plastic from orange peels and carbon dioxide. ‘Plastic, made from petroleum, has long been a source of concern to those worried about the environment. But now a team of scientists at Cornell University say they have come up with a new plastic that can actually put one major environmental problem to good use. The researchers have combined carbon dioxide, plentiful in your typical daily smog, with orange peel extract to create a substance that is as sturdy and reliable as any oil-based plastic.’
