Christmas Nanotechnology Gifts Ideas

Have Yourself A Merry “Nano” Christmas!. ‘Tell a friend you are buying them a nanotechnology gift for the holidays, and visions of Star Trek collectables or geeky electronic toys may start to dance in their heads. But nanotechnology gifts can include everything from fleece jackets and gloves from the Lands’ End™ catalog—with Nano-Tex® Resists Static treatment—to an Apollo Diamond® engagement ring.’ [via ES&T Online News]

A Nanotechnology Consumer Products Inventory. ‘After more than twenty years of basic and applied research, nanotechnologies are gaining in commercial use. Nanoscale materials now are in electronic, cosmetics, automotive and medical products. But it has been difficult to find out how many “nano” consumer products are on the market and which merchandise could be called “nano.”
While not comprehensive, this inventory gives the public the best available look at the 200+ nanotechnology-based consumer products currently on the market. Prior to this inventory, the figure most often cited by the U.S. government was that approximately 80 consumer products containing nanomaterials were being sold.’

Woodrow Wilson International Center for Scholars: Project on Emerging Nanotechnologies.’The Project on Emerging Nanotechnologies was established in April 2005 as a partnership between the Woodrow Wilson International Center for Scholars and the Pew Charitable Trusts. The Project is dedicated to helping ensure that as nanotechnologies advance, possible risks are minimized, public and consumer engagement remains strong, and the potential benefits of these new technologies are realized.’
